June Rae Bradford-Neil
I was born in Washington, DC and moved to Riverdale, MD, District Heights, MD, and landed in Oxon Hill MD just in time to attend 9th grade and graduated OHHS in 1959.
On June 29, 1959, I began work as a secretary at the Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC.
In 1965 I married Raye Workman and left my job with Agriculture. My husband and I set up our own business, J&R Carpet Service, and we began our family in Marlowe Heights, MD. We had a son, Raye Workman Jr. in November 1965, a son, Dennis Raye Workman in December 1966, a daughter, Wendy Rae Workman in August 1968, a daughter, Bonnie Rae Workman in October 1969, and a daughter, Jennifer Rae Workman in May 1977. We lived in Gaithersburg, MD. In 1980, we divorced.
I went to work for Sears in the Credit Central in Bethesda, MD and transferred to Sears Contract Sales where I stayed until 1990 when my job moved without me to Cincinnati, OH. While at Sears I met and married Jeffrey Neil, and in 1990 we bought a home in Spotsylvania, VA. I also began work with the Department of the Navy headquarters in Crystal City, VA. Through reorganization and the birth of the Naval Ordnance Center, we became a tenant on the EOD Tech Div in Indian Head, MD. My husband and I both worked at Indian Head until we retired in June 2000.
I was very fortunate to have worked directly for the Admiral who headed our organization and a Marine Corp Colonel. I learned a lot about the military as well as the civilian operation in the Navy.
We sold our home in VA, and moved to Zephyrhills, FL, in 2000. It wasn’t long before I discovered the Magic of Disney. If I’m not at home, you can always find me at one of the magical parks. I have spent many a delightful day there, winter and summer. I have difficulty getting around, but with my trusty scooter, I can go anywhere. I feel like a kid again.
